The Two Senior Officers Moments Prior to the Attacker Got Stunned

One senior officer who rushed to the assistance of a colleague that was assaulted by a blade-wielder received the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a weapon to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a road collision in that location in mid-2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.

"Policeman attacked," the constable could be heard saying over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashcam video released by the agency showed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife extended.

He collided with the officer who lost balance and fell to the street, before Sgt Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the floor even though being repeatedly struck with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft Stopped the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Stun Gun

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, concluding the struggle to an finish.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need help on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple open wounds to his neck and additional injuries to his arms and torso, whereas Sgt Foster suffered knife wounds.

Officials said Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his fellow officer's blood loss before medical personnel came.

The latest recognition arrives subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted organizational Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local Police Federation in April 2024.

They further earned a Area Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The responses of all three officers ultimately saved one another and meant no bystanders experienced any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, as stated by officials.
